Rescued From Surf But Fails To Revive. SYDNEY. October 15. Although a companion, who is a poor swimmer, brought him to the beach. Arthur Charles Gambrill. 38, of Wollongong failed to recover at Coniston Beach, near Wollongong late yesterday. Gambrill, his wife, Christopher Cromie, 25 and William Brown went to the little frequented beach late in the afternoon. Shortly after Mrs.Gambrill had left the surf, a heavy under tow caught the men. Cromie struggled ashore but immediately reentered the water when he heard Mrs. Gambrill screaming out that her husband was in difficulties. He managed to grasp Gambrill and drag him ashore. A man on the beach and later ambulance men and lifesavers tried desperately to revive him without success. |
