1792 Peter died Flying a Mosquito IX ML921 GB-X. He spun off the runway on take-off colliding with an obstruction. He was on a testing run. His co-pilot F/L P E Cadman DFC died the following day. In the book 'Low Attack' there is a chapter written by Peter of his first mission. A combined Low Level and Shallow Dive attack on the John Cockerill Steel and Armament Works at Liege.
