Mr. V. T. BUTTENSHAW. Mr. Victor Timothy Buttenshaw a former well known and highly esteemed resident of the district died suddenly in Sydney on the 11th instant, at the age of 64 years. The late Mr. Buttenshaw was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Buttenshaw who were among the earliest settlers in the Wyalong district. They came from Murrengo and aquired the well known ¨Fortuna¨ property near Wyalong. Sometime after the death of their parents Victor and his brother Fred were in partnership on the ¨Fortuna¨ proeprty. They afterwards came to the West Wyalong and for some time conducted a garage business next to the Bank of NSW, now conducted by Mr. Spence. About 25 years ago Mr. and Mrs. Buttenshaw and family went to Sydney to love andof late years were residing at 224 Targo Road, Girraween. Victor was for several years one of the leading tennis players of the district. He was also prominent in farmers and settlers affairs. Deceased is survived by Mrs. Buttenshaw, two daughters Mrs Cusack and Mrs. Greenland, (of Sydney) and two sons, Harry and Victor of Sydney. Mrs. Jasprizza and Mrs. Simpkin of Manly are sisters of the deceased and Mr.Fred Buttenshaw of Strathfield is a brother. One sister (Mrs. W. C. Lloyd) and two brothers (the Hon. E. A. Buttenshaw who was for 20 years Member for Lachlan and Deputy Premier for a period) and Mr. William Buttenshaw (of West Myalong) predeceased him. |
