- Newspaper Article: WEDDING BELLS. TOOMEY - FITZGERALD. The wedding of Mr Thomas Toomey, eldest son of Mrs T. Toomey, of Parkes, and Miss Elsie Nora Fitzpatrick, daughter of Mr and Mrs William Fitzpatrick, of Ryde, and formerly of Forbes, took place at St. Charles' Church, Ryde, on Tuesday January 28. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father Gell. The bride entered the church on the arm of her father, who subsequently gave her away. She was handsomely attired in white Jap. silk, with fillet lace and pearl trimmings, and touches of orange blossoms. She also wore the customary wreath and veil, and carried a beautiful bouquet, which, with a cheque, were the gifts of the bridegroom. The bride was attended by her two cousins, Misses Sarah and Cissie Kelly, who were nicely attired in dresses of pale blue and pink Jap. silk, with trimmings and hats to match. The gold cameo dress ring and cross and chain were the gifts of the bridegroom. The bride's present to the bridegroom was a set of gold sleeve-links. After the ceremony the wedding party adjourned to the residence of the bride's parents, where the wedding breakfast was partaken of, and suitable toasts honored. There were many useful presents, including several cheques. The young couple afterwards left for Manly, where the honeymoon is to be spent. The bride's travelling dress was of nigger brown, with trimmings and hat to match. Parkes will be the future home of the young couple. [2]
